John Green _ 4-15-09 Worship Psalm 100:4 - Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. God is omnipresent in relationships. He wants us to pray praise & worship always. ? Praise proceeds plenty. Psalm 95:2 - Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. ? Do we take advantage of the Presence in our Worship? ? Do we become too familiar? ? Praise should always proceed worship! Hebrews 9:1-8 - Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand the table and the consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna Aaron's staff that had budded and the stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. When everything had been arranged like this the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room and that only once a year and never without blood which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. ? What was behind the veil? The ark represents God?s provision for His people. The Rod=Authority. The Name of Jesus! Budded=Miraculous. Super-natural. Tables of the Covenant=Revelation from God. Hebrews 9:13-14 - The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more then will the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death so that we may serve the living God! ? Purge your conscience! Let the Blood do it! II Kings 17:36 - But the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices. Romans 12:1 - Therefore I urge you brothers in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God?this is your spiritual act of worship. ? We are now the sacrifice Matthew 4:10 - Jesus said to him "Away from me Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only. John 4:23 - Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. Matthew 26:6-13 - While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." Aware of this Jesus said to them "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body she did it to prepare me for burial. I tell you the truth wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world what she has done will also be told in memory of her." ? This woman?s worship was: o Extravagant over the top o Jesus liked it o Nobody else did it o It got the attention of others o It made her famous Revelation 4:10-11 - the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the thro
