Divine Healing and the Atonement

Romans 5:6-11 KJV 6 For when we were yet without strength in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. 9 Much more then being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son much more being reconciled we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have now received the atonement. Atonement is an Old Testament word used few times in the New Testament. In the New Testament Jesus does not atone according to the context of the meaning of the word ?atone?. The word ?atonement? here implies that Jesus just covered our sins. Jesus destroyed sin once for all! This is much more that just ?atonement?. Various concordances give ?exchange? as the meaning of atonement. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. We can?t repent of ?ALL? our sins. We assume that we know what they are but in fact you can?t know that you?ve sinned until the Holy Spirit reveals it to you. 2 Corinthians 8:9 NKJV 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though He was rich yet for your sakes He became poor that you through His poverty might become rich. God humbled Himself and became man but Jesus WAS NOT POOR! Poor indicated lack and Jesus lacked nothing. The three wise men gave Him gifts that would equal millions of dollars in today?s standard of wealth. He could turn water into wine. He got money from a fish to pay taxes. He performed many miracles to prove His richness. HE HAD NO LACK! Isaiah 53:4-5 NKJV 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken Smitten by God and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him And by His stripes we are healed. Jesus bore all sicknesses so that we may be healed. Grief depression mental illnesses are all a part of the exchange. None of us can ever be good enough long enough to deserve what Jesus did for us on Calvary yet we can?t plead guilty. We surely can?t plead innocent because we?re not. We plead ?The Blood?. The blood of Jesus destroyed sickness sin poverty lack of peace in our lives. James 5:15 & 16 NKJV 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses[a] to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
