There is too much self-help Gospel these days and too much motivational speaking in churches. ? We need to read and preach from the Bible more. ? 57% of evangelicals believe there is more than one way to God. ? During all of Paul?s sufferings he remained unpopular. Romans 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ? Though many trials nothing separates us from the love of God. ? 1500 pastors leave per month due to moral issues spiritual burnout. ? 4000 new churches per year ? 15% of pastor?s marriages end in divorce ? 80% feel unqualified to be in ministry ? 90% of pastors feel their training was inadequate ? 70% feel underpaid ? 80% of pastors wives wish they had not gone into ministry Don?t be disobedient to God for more money! Resilient: the capability of withstanding shock without rupture recovering from shock tough ? We need to be resilient in times like these ? Focus on what we can do for God ? History records those that have not always had it easy Acts 20:22-24 - "And now compelled by the Spirit I am going to Jerusalem not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However I consider my life worth nothing to me if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me?the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. ? Bound by the spirit=constrained by something bigger than us. ? Willing to face the unknown future; our future is secure in God. ? The witness of the Spirit; evidence that we are doing what God has called us to do. ? Do not be moved! Never be pushed out of place! ? Die to self. We have something greater to live for that is greater than the here and now. ? Finish your course with joy! ? Finish the ministry when called to do so.
