Just Say No!....to Temptation 5/10/09 _ Pastor King Luke 19:44- They will dash you to the ground you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you." ? Are we spiritually dull of hearing? Sometimes we have a visitation from the Lord and we don?t even know it. Sometimes things come upon us because we don?t know the time of our visitation. Luke 4:1 - Jesus full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert ? Jesus was led into a rough place. ? We may be led into rough places in order to grow & mature in the Lord. He wants to strengthen us for what?s coming. ? Jesus faced temptation. o Satan wanted Jesus to fall for the temptation so that he could rob Him of his anointing. o Jesus used the Word of God against the temptations that the devil presented to Him. it is important for us to do the same thing because the Word of God is the only thing that the devil has no defense against. Luke 4:16-19 - Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He taught in their synagogues and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth where he had been brought up and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue as was his custom. And he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it he found the place where it is written: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind to release the oppressed to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." ? Jesus came out of the time of temptation with a new fresh anointing. ? It was after this time of testing that Jesus began His ministry and performed the miracles. I Corinthians 10:12 - So if you think you are standing firm be careful that you don't fall! ? Sometimes we think we?re ok when we?re not. We tend to let down our guard because we don?t think it?s an issue. ? We are careful to guard ourselves in areas that we know are weaknesses. I Corinthians 10:13 - No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. ? The fact that you are tempted proves that you have to power to resist it. ? Every temptation has a way of escape. ? ?I?m just human? is not an excuse. Many times we try to justify the sin and our weaknesses but God doesn?t accept that. He has given us the way of escape out of every temptation. Galatians 5:23 - gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. ? Sometimes we just need to get ourselves under control. ? When you give in to something that is forbidden the flesh will begin to enjoy it and then expect it. The sin will get stronger and stronger and have more power over you. Hebrews 4:13 - Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. ? God knows it all! ?What happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas?. ? You NEVER fool God! ? All sin will be dealt with either here or there. The best thing is to confess it now and not continue in it. If you don?t confess them here God will deal with you on the day of judgement. ? We should all live our lives with an eternal perspective. Don?t do something that you know is forbidden thinking that you can just repent and go on your merry way. God will deal with that attitude. Hebrews 4:14-16 - Therefore since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens Jesus the Son of God let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses but we have one who has be
